John Prey: a man, a survivor, a hunter, a bane of any typhon.
He is a perfect example of what the board would like to see as their employees.
John does not care about his hunger, thirst, tiredness, fear, pain, etc.
His metrics are different; he is acting differently.
His actions are based on a principle none of the other people on Talos I understand: each part of the station is an optimisation puzzle for John, a puzzle which requires complete control over the body and lack of fear of pain or injuries.
John Prey is a perfect actor with the motivation to conserve resources and become ready for any situation imaginable.
Thanks to his wit combined with his motivation and the environment of the station, John became what he is now.
His eye and physique give away how many neuromods he used in a short period of time.
His pockets are cram-packed with equipment and material cubes...
...Nothing can stand in his way, and Typhon do understand it.
PHANTOM
What is Typhon?
Is it a wildfire?
Is it an insatiable storm?
Is it a necessary evil which is a bridge to the bright future?
Is it a cause of another thrilling story?
No, it is a tool, a mirror.
A catalyst that reveals the inner nature of everyone breathing on Talos I.
A sand that fills a playground to be melted in the heat of a conflict over survival or extermination—with the sole purpose of letting one reflect on what is human and what is inhuman.
The poor phantom has already shown who John is.
THE SCENE
If a fiction is not as detailed as reality is, then how detailed is a fiction about a fiction?
It doesn't need to be as elaborate, though.
The Scene is almost like a theatre; it is selective about which details to show and what to omit.
The Scene is not concerned with logic beyond the details it chooses to emphasise.
